Clackamas Community College- Simple, cost effective Digital Signage Solution for Education
AIS Model: SVS-2101
Our overall goal of our campus wide digital signage project is to be able to put up large flat screen TV’s in every building on every floor. In some cases we will be replacing many old outdated tube TV’s that no longer work or will need to be replaced as the technology advances.
We have spent many hours of research trying to find the right solution for our project . We currently have a streaming server and an on-demand server running on campus and had originally thought we would utilize this technology for our digital signage project. After much time crunching the numbers we decided that this was going to be too costly to implement. We then took a different approach and began looking for a more standalone product that would fit our needs. We came across the AIS SVS-2101 stand alone media player that easily fits behind any TV installation and supports all the media format we are using at a very affordable price. We decided to purchase one to replace a PC that was running a PowerPoint 24/7 for our CCTV reader board of college events, we had gone through 3 PC’s in a matter of 6 months, so this seemed like a great time to try and replace this aspect of our project. The installation of the SVS-2101 was extremely easy, I plugged it into the network gave it an address and loaded the PowerPoint and it was up and running, in total it took less than 10 minutes. This media player has been up and running ever since, about 4 months, without any problems. This worked so well for us that we are now looking at the HD media player for our digital signage project. This will allow us to network all the media players and load different content for different buildings, as well as different floors so we can inform our students and staff of what’s going on in there building and their floor at any time. With these difficult economic times and more on the way implementing a digital signage project was going to be extremely difficult, but using the AIS SVS media players will allow us to move forward where we most likely would not be able to. I would highly recommend taking a long look at the AIS media players; we fully expect to move forward with the HD media players as they become available.
